When these dedicated, valuable, skilled individuals come to be underpaid, or else when the compensation they receive for their services does not allow them to keep up with the cost of living in their respective countries, many of them have to quit and pursue a different career. As so many of them quit their career, an invaluable amount of experience and know-how is lost, and this results in defective, low quality translations.

Most of translation/localization companies are paying us in the range of US$0.06 - 0.09 per translated word, and very often much lower. That's too little for any professional translator, regardless of their location.
We believe that the benefits of globalization should reach every country and every translator.
We, a significative number of professional translators, have found out that we would need to be paid a minimum of US$0.10 - 0.12 per translated word. We believe this is the rate we need to survive and keep working with dedication and professionalism. Otherwise, the quality of our work decreases in a direct proportion to lower rates.
